and oxygen concentrator?
What is COPD?
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is the 5th leading cause of death in Hong Kong, and further increases in its prevalence and mortality can be predicted in the coming decades.
COPD is a common preventable and treatable disease, is characterized by persistent airflow limitation that is usually progressive and associated with an enhanced chronic inflammatory response in the airways and the lung to noxious particles or gases.
What is Oxygen Therapy?
To provide high concentration of oxygen through oxygen source (i.e. oxygen concentrator, portable oxygen concentrator or oxygen cylinder ) to patient with cannula to improve their blood oxygen saturation (SpO2).
Why I need Oxygen Therapy?
Long-Term Oxygen Therapy (LTOT) is the common treatment for the following diseases associated with hypoxemia & hypoxia, such as:
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Neurodegenerative disease
- Cardiac failure
- Other respiratory failure
- Cancer
- Preterm infant
With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), you may be suffered from shortage of breath, fatigueness & dizziness when doing exercise or walking upstairs.
