Blood Pressure: Blood is carried from the heart to all parts of your body invessels called arteries.
Blood pressure is always given as these two numbers, which are represent systolic and diastolic pressures. The pressure of the heart muscle contracts is systolic; the pressure of the heart muscle is resting between beats and refilling with blood is diastolic. Systolic is higher than diastolic and the measure unit is millimeters of mercury (mm Hg).

What is Hypertension?

Hypertension: Normal blood pressure is defined as a blood pressure of 90 - 120 mm Hg when the heart beats (systolic) and a blood pressure of 80 - 60 mm Hg when the heart relaxes (diastolic).
According to WHO, if systolic blood pressure is equal to or above 140 mm Hg and/or a diastolic blood pressure equal to or above 90 mm Hg the blood pressure is considered to be raised or high.
